Case registered against jirga declaring minor girls wani

SUKKUR: District Police Officer (DPO) Ghotki, Pir Muhammad Shah registered a case on Friday under the Wani Act Article 130 against a jirga including a feudal and 35 others for declaring two minor girls wani, Express News reported.

The jirga was held in Malook village over a dispute of Karo-kari, where the two minor girls – Shabnam 10 and Fariha five – were declared wani and were forced to wed.

DPO Ghotki took notice of the matter after the news was aired on Express News.

An FIR against the feudal Pir Baksh and the other 35 men present in the jirga was lodged in the presence of the mother of the girls, Musammat bibi.

Police raided Malook village and other villages near it but no arrest has been reported so far.
