KARACHI: Protesting lawyers boycotted the Sindh High Court (SHC) and subordinate courts on Thursday as the protest against model courts continued for the fourth consecutive day.
The protesting lawyers restricted other lawyers and petitioners from entering the courts and shouted slogans in the court premises. They maintained that the powers to implement Sections 22-A and 22-B of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) should be given back to the Sessions courts. They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan that their demands be fulfilled.
SHC Bar President Muhammad Aqil said that lawyers across Pakistan would stage a sit-in on April 25 at Supreme Court (SC), Islamabad.
As the judicial proceedings remained suspended, petitioners had to face extreme inconvenience.
