Minister promises better facilities for labourers’ children

KARACHI: Sindh Labour and Human Resources Minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch said on Saturday that the provincial government was trying to provide better education facilities to the children of labourers so that they may become doctors, engineers, government officers and are able to get other impressive jobs in their future.

He expressed these views at the annual prize distribution ceremony at the Karachi University organised by the Sindh Workers Welfare Board on Saturday. The Workers Welfare Board Secretary Dr Mustafa Suhag,  Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) Commissioner Kashif Gulzar, MNA Agha Rafeeullah, educationists Dr Mazhar ul Haq and Naeem Ahkund attended the ceremony.



Baloch distributed cash prizes, awards and certificates among the position holders. The first position holders were given Rs50,000, second position holders were given Rs45,000 and third position holders got Rs40,000 cash prizes. Students also presented beautiful tableaus.

The minister said that it was a fact that the children of the labourers were second to none in talents, they just needed better opportunities to grow and he added that the government was trying to provide them better education facilities so that they might be able to play their due role in the progress of the country.



Expressing pleasure at the students' performance in the Board Examinations, he said, "It is another fact that no nation can make progress in any field until it pays heed to the field of education".

Baloch distributed offer letters on deceased quota to the heirs and also announced that on Labour Day, May 1, the labourers would be given allotments in the labour colonies across the province.
