Paddy Problem: Fertiliser shortage affecting sowing

SIALKOT: Amanullah Chattha, the Pakistan Kissan Board central chairman, on Thursday voiced concern over the non-availability of urea fertiliser on the sowing of the paddy crop in Sialkot region. The region is known for producing the best quality rice. Chattha, addressing a press conference, said that the situation was causing an inordinate delay in the sowing of the paddy crop. “The dealers are selling the DAP fertiliser at Rs1,600 to 1,700 per bag against the official rate of Rs1,245 per bag,” he said. He added that the district government had failed to keep a check on black marketing.
