PESHAWAR: Founding members of the Model Institute of State Children better known as Zamung Kor (My Home) initiative have expressed resentment over government’s takeover of the project.

The board of governors, which launched the initiative to provide safe living environment to street children, has been declared defunct through an official notification.

“We had floated the idea of Zamung Kor with great effort in 2015, but now we have been notified that it has been declared defunct,” social activist and the founding member of Zamung Kor Meraj Hamayun Khan said talking to The Express Tribune.

She expressed resentment over amending the K-P Child Protection and Welfare Act-2016 and ending the autonomous status of the Implementation and Monitoring Committee (IMC) that consisted of the board members of Zamung Kor.
