QUETTA: Sunday Bazaars have become a dream in Quetta. Everything is being sold on higher rates. The poor are tired of buying expensive items. Neither is the district administration paying any attention towards this nor can the Price Control Authority be activated.
According to a vast majority of people in Quetta, holding no Sunday Bazaars in the city raises a question mark over the district administration’s performance.
Vegetable, fruit and daals along with chicken, cow and goat meat are being sold at their usual places.
Even the white collar people are worried.
According to citizens, it was beyond their understanding as to why no Sunday Bazaar was being held in the city with a huge population as “people of Saryab Road, Satellite Town, Bacha Khan Chowk, Sabzi Mandi, Joint Road and Brewery Road are buying vegetable and meat from the shops in their areas”. Mutton is being sold at Rs770 to Rs800 per kilogramme (kg) and cow’s meat from Rs480 to Rs500 per kg. Likewise, vegetable is also being sold on higher rates. Potato is being sold for Rs40 per kg, tomato Rs50 per kg, brinjal Rs60 per kg, courgette Rs170 per kg, while chicken meat is being sold for Rs270 per kg.
The people of the city have appealed to the provincial government to make active price control committees and holding Sunday Bazaars a reality so that they could buy items on affordable prices.
On the other hand, shopkeepers and pushcart vendors do not have the price control list due to which the common man faced hardships.
The district administration has been urged to play its due role.
