HARIPUR:

Four men including three brothers accused in the Neelor Bala sexual abuse case were sent to prison on judicial remand on Tuesday.

A criminal case under the Pakistan Penal Code was registered with Saddar Police against Suleman, Imran, Manzoor and Arsalan for allegedly disrobing and forcing a woman to parade naked through Neelor Bala village. Jirga members Raqeeb Khan, Matloob and arms dealer Basheer Abbasi were nominated for instigating and supporting the accused.

Suleman had earlier divorced his wife based on suspicion that she became pregnant following a tryst with the victim’s son, a decision reportedly endorsed by the jirga.

The police arrested Raqeeb Khan and Matloob the day after the FIR was filed, and they were joined behind bars by the three brothers on June 17, after the court granted a four-day physical remand.

The victim is now living in Pak-China Colony, where the local administration is providing her with room and board and police security.
