Spring plantation kicks off at NUST

Interior Minister inaugurates the environment-friendly campaign by planting an Olive tree

Spearheading “Prime Minister’s Clean and Green Islamabad Campaign” among academia, NUST has been taking measures to preserve and improve green environment both within NUST and across the capital.

Sticking to the age-old adage “charity begins at home,” NUST over the years has been effervescently conducting on-campus plantation drives and to date has planted over 75, 000 trees as of 2018 at the Islamabad campus alone.

Keeping up with the tradition, NUST started the Spring Tree Plantation Drive 2019 on Wednesday. Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi, inaugurated the environment-friendly campaign by planting an Olive tree. NUST Rector Lt Gen (Retd) Naweed Zaman also graced the occasion with his presence and also planted an olive tree. The minister urged the students to extend their full support to the Islamabad administration in the drive.
