KHANEWAL: A woman was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Khanewal on Thursday.
Reportedly, Muhammad Kumhar, a resident of Basti Pir Khadim, had gone to attend a relative’s wedding ceremony in Ahmed Pur Sial area along with family members.
Kumhar’s daughter-in-law S* was alone in the house when her neighbour Mukhtar took advantage of the situation and barged in. He allegedly sexually assaulted S* and fled the scene.
Residents revealed that S* had developed relations with the accused. They said the culprit used to visit her house when she was alone.
When contacted, the suspect’s brother told Express News that the allegations against Mukhtar were baseless. He added the victim’s family had borrowed his brother’s cellphone to make a call. He maintained that when Mukhtar went to reclaim his phone, it was revealed that the device was damaged.
He highlighted that his brother was enraged and slapped S* for damaging his cellphone.
The accused’s brother claimed that the woman and his family were implicating Mukhtar in a false case to take revenge over the matter.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and sent the victim for a medical examination. The test report revealed that the woman had been raped. Further investigations are under way.
On March 5, a sixth grade student was subjected to sexual assault in Sialkot’s Qila Kalarwala Town.
The victim’s father, a resident of Kotli Nawanian Village, submitted a complaint, stating that his son W* studies at Government Muslim High School situated in the area.
He added on the day of the incident, W* was on his way home after school when Muhammad Irfan, riding a motorcycle, intercepted him near Children’s Park.
He mentioned that the culprit offered his son a ride home. He highlighted that the victim accepted the offer and went with him. He said the suspect took him to the bank of River Ravi in Bathanwala Village and allegedly raped him.
