The Pakistan Television (PTV) news bureau has started regular functioning in Sialkot from Sunday.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan inaugurated the new PTV news bureau in Sialkot during a special ceremony and senior PTV officials from Islamabad and Lahore, senior journalists and local politicians were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, Awan said that the new PTV bureau had been established following the global, industrial and export significance of the export-oriented city.
The bureau aims to promote industrial and export activities in Sialkot, besides, promoting the teachings of Allama Iqbal in regularly telecast programming.
“The new PTV bureau will prove to be a milestone in socio-economic and human development.
There is programming in the works that will also highlight the Kashmir cause and promote social issues,” she said. PTV officials said that the new bureau would telecast shows specific to the Sialkot region, including programmes linked with trade and business management. “We also plan on launching programming for children and several shows in various regional languages,” said PTV official Rehman Sadaat.
