OKARA: A man, who allegedly axed two of his wives to death over frequent quarrels in Okara, was arrested by police. Officials are now on the hunt for his accomplices, Express News reported on Sunday.
Reportedly, Ahmed Nawaz, a resident of Mandi Ahmedabad’s Shadiwal area, had married two women and they all lived in the same house. He married Sajida some nine years ago and had four children.
After a few years, Ahmed had an affair with Shahnaz Bibi subsequently married her. However, his first wife was not happy with the union and both women used to argue regularly.

On several occasions, Sajida went to her parent’s house after quarrelling with Shahnaz Bibi but Ahmed brought her back each time.
On the day of the incident, both women had a heated argument. Ahmed tried to diffuse the situation but in vain.
In a fit of rage, he and his accomplices allegedly axed Sajida and Shahnaz to death and fled the scene. However, police managed to arrest him and registered a case on complaint of Sajida’s brother Zaman.
Meanwhile, Okara DPO Athar Ismaeel ordered police officials to investigate the case and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
Earlier, a man axed his niece to death over a marriage dispute in Burewala. Muhammad Safdar, a resident of Fazal Wah area, wanted to marry his son to his 18-year-old niece Kulsoom.
When Safdar sent the marriage proposal to the girl’s father, he rejected his request. Later, Kulsoom tied the knot with another man.
When the accused learnt of the marriage, he was enraged and decided to take ‘revenge’. On the day of the incident, the suspect barged into Kulsoom’s house and axed her to death.
