K-P govt to develop natural resources as foundation for economic growth

Women university campus to be established soon, says K-P CM

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan has said that a strategy has been devised to develop tourism and other natural resources as a foundation for economic growth in Malakand, Hazara and tribal districts of the province.

Several projects have been initiated in industries, tourism and communication sectors adding that southern districts were being opened for trade in industries and tourist activities.

These views he expressed while talking to the President of Dera Ismail Khan Press Club at Chief Minister Secretariat in Peshawar on Saturday. Advisor on Merged Districts and Spokesperson of Provincial Government Ajmal Khan Wazir was also present on this occasion.

The chief minister said that media played a vital role in development and prosperity of the people. Hence, the government expects its supporting role in public welfare projects.

He specifically mentioned Peshawer, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan and Sawabi where circular railway track was being established.

Swat Motorway, economic zones of Rashakai, Hattar and DI Khan were also included in it, he said.

CM said that an independent authority like Galiyat Development Authority was under consideration adding that promotion of tourism was among top priorities of the government. He hoped that the media would help the government promote public welfare projects.

Women University

The K-P chief minister stated that establishment of a Women University Campus in Swat would be made possible soon and for this purpose land would be acquired on a priority basis. In this connection he gave directions for selection of land either at Kabal Tehsil or Odigram. The chief minister also indicated that he would soon inaugurate the Shangla Campus which has been accomplished at a cost of Rs1.5 billion.

He also revealed that a language centre in Kanju, Swat would also be inaugurated soon. He expressed these views while chairing a meeting in Peshawar about establishing Women University Campus in Swat.

Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai, MPA Fazal Hakim Khan, Swat University vice chancellor and others were also present on this occasion.

Android app

The incumbent government is trying to develop an education system which grooms our new generation in totality instead of the present trend of creating a race for whoever scores the highest marks with no concern for character building and attitude development.

He said this while launching the android app prepared by the Education Department for the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education from all over the province.

He said the new android app would help filter wrongs in the present system and make necessary modification to improve it.
