Spring Festival 2019 concludes at UVAS

Theme of weeklong festival was peace and harmony

LAHORE: The weeklong Spring Festival 2019 of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore concluded on Friday. The theme of the festival was peace and harmony.

Former Chief Justice of Pakistan Jawwad S. Khawaja and Vice Chancellor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha co-chaired the concluding ceremony and distributed trophies among winners of the contests. Dr Kamran Ashraf and a large number of students also attended the event. The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) students got the first position, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) secured second and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) got third positions.

Contests such as drama, quiz, naat-qiraat, azaan, poster, model exhibition, floral and department decoration, music, photography, short film, Tik Tok, bait bazi, ghazal, Urdu and English poetry, master art, standup comedy and treasure hunt were part of the festival.

Speaking at the concluding ceremony of the festival, Khawaja said that students are the future of Pakistan. He also spoke about the importance of Urdu language in the development of society. He lauded the role of UVAS for the promoting curricular and extra-curricular activities among students.

Dr Pasha appreciated the students' participation in the contests. He said that such activities are necessary for students' character building and social training.
