RWMC, Al Bayrak to set up coordination cell

Al Bayrak will transfer entire transport fleet and machinery to RWMC if company’s contract not extended

RAWALPINDI: A coordination cell will be formed to liaison between the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) and Turkish waste management company Al Bayrak to monitor the establishment of an ideal cleanliness system in the garrison city.

The cell will monitor the progress of Al Bayrak as per the Rs8 billion contract which had been awarded to the company in 2015 for a period of seven years.

According to the contract, Al Bayrak will transfer its entire transport fleet and machinery to the RWMC if the government decides not to extend the company’s contract.

During a meeting between the RWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Flight Lieutenant (retired) Raja Asim Ayub and Al Bayrak’s head Fateh Onat and other senior officers on Tuesday, Ayub said that they will not comprise on the cleanliness of the city.

He pledged that both companies fulfil their respective responsibilities in this regard. Ayub directed Al Bayrak’s administration to focus on the main arteries of the city along with the internal streets to maintain an overall hygienic environment for the people.
