HYDERABAD:

Police evicted occupants from the Civil Hospital Doctors Hostel where more than 60 per cent of the people had been living illegally, according to Civil Hospital assistant medical superintendent Dr Hanan Shaikh.

The police action was a follow-up of a raid conducted on March 13 to clear the two hostels from illegal occupants and criminals. A sub-machine gun, two repeater guns and ten pistols were seized and nine suspects were arrested only to be released the next morning. The occupants did not resist the police, and according to Market police SHO only two of the occupants wanted a day to clear their belongings. According to Shaikh, they had issued notices to vacate the hostels two months ago but the occupants did not comply.

Forty per cent of the remaining doctors were moved to the old hostel.
