Mishal Malik says South Asia is on red alert

Ex-Norwegian PM offers to play role in resolving Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD: Mishal Malik, wife of Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik has said conditions of South Asia are at red alert at this time.

Malik made these remarks during the inauguration of a photography exhibition reflecting the Kashmiri culture and independence movement.

The ceremony was inaugurated by former Norwegian prime minister Kjell Magne Bondevik and Mishal Malik, whose paintings portrayed a condemning attitude against the Indian oppression in occupied Kashmir.

“India’s attitude after the Pulwama attack is extremely dangerous,” she said adding that many Hurriyat leaders are being put under house arrest by the Indian forces.



Talking about her paintings, Malik said she has made them to depict the Indian atrocities with a story of its oppression present in each and every picture. The pictures displayed at the exhibition also included one of the first girl to be injured by Indian pellet gun.

She also pointed out that even the United Nations has expressed concern over the current situation in Kashmir. She called on the international community to play an effective role for peace and to resolve the Kashmir issue according to the UN resolutions.

On this occasion, the former Norwegian PM said he condemns the Pulwama attack and the situation is extremely grave.

“The solution to the Kashmir dispute lies in talks and not war,” said Bondevik, adding he was ready to play his role in this regard.

The diplomat further said he was very much affected by the exhibition as these pictures depicted the true colours of the brutal oppression of the Kashmiris and expressed his concern over the human rights violations being committed in the occupied valley.
