Court extends physical remand of accused in Ranjhani murder case

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court extended on Saturday the physical remand of both the accused in Irshad Ranjhani murder case till February 28.

Accused Rahim Shah and sub-inspector Riaz and were brought to the court in an armoured vehicle amid strict security.

The investigation officer (IO) submitted an updated report before the court informing that Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act has been incorporated in the case.

The IO asked the court for an extension of 10 days in Shah's physical remand for further investigation. Court extended physical remand of both the accused till February 28 and asked the IO to present a progress report on the next hearing. Irshad Ranjhani was killed on February 6 by UC Nazim Rahim Shah.

The accused did not let those present on the spot take the victim to the hospital. Shah belongs to Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) and Ranjhani was the president of the Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) Karachi chapter.
