Excise secretary suspends squad, orders inquiry

The officials have been suspended for harassing people in Charsadda and forcing them to pay bribes

PESHAWAR: A mobile squad of excise officials has been suspended for harassing people in Charsadda and forcing them to pay bribes.

Secretary Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Riaz Mehsud on Friday initiated an inquiry against seven personnel of the department over corrupt practices.

The squad comprises ASI a sub inspector, two, three constables and a driver. A committee headed by Excise Deputy Secretary Rehan Khattak has been formed to investigate the matter and submit the report within 15 days.

Khattak said investigation against the aforementioned officials? The complainant’s statement was recorded today and investigated for possible conspiracy.

Khattak added that the committee will try level best to unearth the truth and the findings will be conveyed to secretary office within due time frame.
