LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has condemned the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement after the Pulwama attack and said that before accusing Pakistan, Modi must express remorse over severe human rights violation in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

“Indian prime minister should’ve shown this rage over blinding of 20-month-old Kashmiri child because of [police’s] pellet guns,” Shehbaz, who is also leader of opposition in the National Assembly, said in a statement issued on Saturday.

He said the convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav’s arrest from Pakistan is a living evidence of India’s wish to spread unrest in Pakistan. He said this is a reality which India cannot refute now.

Shehbaz said Pakistan has condemned the Pulwama incident but India has pointed the finger at Pakistan without due investigation. However, this has not happened for the first time, he added.

“India has plotted such incidents before to defame Pakistan and the world has later questioned such attacks. History is a witness that at the time of general elections, India uses such incidents to defame Pakistan and the Kashmir freedom movement,” he said.

Shehbaz said India must stop human rights violation in Kashmir and must not employ condemnable tactics to change the demographics in the occupied valley.

“The path to peace in the subcontinent goes through Kashmir. For sustainable peace and development the promise of resolving Kashmir issue through UN resolutions and according to the wish of Kashmiris must be fulfilled,” he added.

The opposition leader also condemned Indian threats of conducting surgical trikes inside Pakistan. Indian leadership, he said, should come to its senses.

“Their first claim of carrying out a surgical strike was ridiculed so much that the Indian leadership has now stopped talking about it. Our brave military has replied to all ploys of the enemy and in future will reply even more effectively. The whole nation stands by the military to sabotage the enemy’s designs,” he added.
