TCP awards contract for urea import

Fertiliser to arrive by first week of July to meet farmer’s needs.

The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has awarded a contract to Multi Commerce LLC for supply of 50,000 tons of urea at $544.73 per ton including cost and freight.


According to TCP on Friday, the company was the lowest bidder in a tender for urea import floated on June 10 and conformed to all technical specifications and evaluation criteria given in tender document. Six bidders participated in the tender, quoting prices in the range of $544.73 to $575 per ton C&F basis. TCP expects urea to arrive by the end of June or first week of July.

TCP invited the bids to comply with the directive of Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet to meet urgent needs of farmers for sowing Kharif crops as Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) would be providing a similar quantity of urea by the second half of July.

After arrival, the distributionwill be done by National Fertiliser Marketing Limited in an attempt to supply the commodity to farmers on time.
