Govt urged to declare pharma as export sector

Federal Health Minister Aamer Mehmmod Kiani emphasises on revitalising the exports of the sector

ISLAMABAD: A body representing pharmaceutical manufacturers of the country has urged the government to declare the sector as an ‘export sector’ as the first meeting of a steering committee on pharmaceutical export promotion bureau was held in the federal capital.

The meeting was chaired by the Federal Health Minister Aamer Mehmmod Kiani and was attended by Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Sheikh Akhter Hussain, official nominees from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and delegates from the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), and the Pharma Bureau.

During the meeting, Kiani emphasised on revitalising the exports of the Pharma sector to boost the national exchequer.
