QUETTA: The Balochistan customs department has been playing effective role in preventing the smuggling of contraband items from Afghan and Iran border despite being provided less resource to perform duties.

This was stated by former customs collector Ashraf Ali while addressing a farewell party the other day.

He stressed that without strengthening the department smuggling could not be eliminated from the province.

He added that the customs department has an important role in provincial development.

Ali said: “Despite lack of resources the customs has been utilising all resources to prevent smuggling of contraband items from Balochistan, though the province shares two borders but the department fervent to crackdown against smugglers”.
