Man accused of raping sister-in-law

Victim says her husband was not present in the house when incident occurred

KHANEWAL: A man allegedly sexually assaulted his sister-in-law in Khanewal, Express News reported on Friday.

An official of Saddar police station said U*, a resident of Kabirwala Town, submitted a complaint, stating that she went to Multan to meet her parents a few days ago.

The woman maintained that when she returned back home, she found out that her brother-in-law Babar Ali was alone in the house, while her husband had gone out for some work.

U* mentioned that as she went into her room to change clothes, accused Babar barged in and locked the room from inside. She lamented the culprit tore her clothes and allegedly raped her.

The victim said that after the incident, the suspect threatened her with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the matter. Later, he fled the scene.

Meanwhile, the Saddar police have registered a case against the accused and started investigations.

Earlier, a woman was sexually assaulted by her uncle and his gunman in Hafizabad.

According to details, 25-year-old M*, a resident of Malakwal, went to her Uncle Mushtaq’s house in Kot Gora in Hafizabad to collect money.

When she reached the house, her uncle and his gunman Shahbaz allegedly took her to a room and raped her.

In recent months, the reporting of the cases of sexual abuse has increased in Punjab. Despite these incidents occurring on a daily basis, the government’s counter measures have been largely disappointing.

Most cases have been reported from Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala and other parts of the province. The victims include women and minor girls or boys.
