As the nation marks Kashmir Solidarity Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that all those who love freedom throughout the world must stand with the people of Kashmir.

"The brutality of Indian security forces in Occupied Kashmir has rallied all Kashmiris together in their demand for freedom from Indian occupation," the prime minister tweeted on Tuesday.

He said New Delhi was not fighting insurgents in the Kashmir valley but an entire people.

Earlier in the day, President Arif Alvi demanded the Indian government uphold the rights of the Kashmiri people instead of "justifying its terrorism" against innocent citizens.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said India was committing grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, stressing that the right to self-determination was a basic right of the Kashmiri people.

The government had planned a number of activities to mark the day and expose massive human rights violations and brutality being committed by the Indian forces in the occupied valley.
