Six bandits escape police after robbery bid

Culprits held Ejaz and his family hostage at gunpoint and looted Rs0.5 in million cash, jewellery and other valuables

NAROWAL: At least six bandits managed to escape police after committing a robbery in Narowal, Express News reported.

The unidentified armed bandits barged into the house of local trader Ejaz in Defence Colony. The culprits held Ejaz and his family hostage at gunpoint and looted Rs0.5 million in cash, jewellery and other valuables.

However, people from the neighbourhood informed the police about the incident. City police station immediately responded and reached the spot.

When the outlaws tried to escape, the police challenged them, but all six managed to flee under the cover of fire. The police seized a stolen two-wheeler with a fake number plate from the crime scene.

A case has been registered at the police station while further investigations are under way.

A police official said the bandits had been operating in the area for some time and had deprived people of their belongings. He added police were conducting raids to nab the accused.

Earlier, four robbers were nabbed after a brief encounter with police in Hafizabad.

Saddar Area DSP Khalid Maqbool and his team were patrolling the area when they received information that four robbers, riding two motorcycles, were looting citizens near Channi Hanjrawan Village. On the tip-off, they rushed to the spot and challenged the outlaws.

The accused opened fire on them and tried to escape. The police retaliated and an encounter occurred.

When the robbers reached Alipur Road in Model Bazaar, the police personnel apprehended them.
