FAISALABAD: A woman attacked with acid suffered severe injuries in the Saddar police jurisdiction on Tuesday.
A police official told APP that Ramzana, 35, the owner of a small 'dhaba' or food outlet, refused the marriage proposal of Malik Nadeem several times.
After her last refusal, he threw acid on the victim when she was working in her shop at 225-RB, Ahmad Nagar.
The victim suffered severe burn injuries and was shifted to the district headquarters hospital by Rescue 1122. The assailant managed to escape from the scene.
City Police Officer Ashfaq Ahmad Khan took serious notice of the incident and directed the Saddar SHO to register a case and arrest the culprit as soon as possible.
A woman was allegedly gang-raped in Faisalabad, Express News reported on Tuesday.
R*, a resident of Millat Chowk, submitted a complaint at the police station, stating that she was a married woman and her husband was a drug addict.
The woman stated that as her husband did not work and it had, therefore, become difficult to feed her children and run household matters.
R* mentioned that in a bid to find work, she asked her father's friend Mubarak Ali to help her. She revealed that on the day of the incident, Mubarak called her and said he had found a job and she should immediately come to meet the employer.
The victim said she believed him and went to the designated spot. The woman revealed that the accused took her to a house where Kashif and Manzoor were waiting for them.
She said the suspects locked her in a room and allegedly gang-raped her. She highlighted that after committing the offence, the rapists fled the scene, leaving her in an injured condition.
The victim demanded police arrest the culprits and hand down strict punishment.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against the accused and raids were being conducted to apprehend them.
In a separate incident, the police arrested a gang of robbers and recovered weapons from their possession.
A spokesman told APP that the team of Kur police station conducted a raid and arrested a ring leader Maula Ditta (ring leader), Kamran alias Kami, Shahid, and Ejaz alias Jajji.
Police recovered a pistol, a repeater gun and mobile phones from the possession of the accused. The suspects were wanted by the police of Khurarianwala, Jaranwala and Saddar circles in a number of robberies and other street crimes. Further investigation was underway.
