SIALKOT:

A woman was allegedly tortured and poisoned to death by her in-laws in Sialkot’s Sambrial Town, Express News reported on Sunday.

The victim’s uncle Muhammad Shafique, a resident of Zahid Colony, Gujranwala, told police that his niece Sania Bibi married Muhammad Asif a few years ago and the couple had six children.

He stated that soon after the marriage, the couple developed differences and they would often have arguments over minor issues.

He maintained that on the day of the incident, Sania gave birth to a baby girl. Shafique stated that the woman’s husband called him on his cellphone and said that Sania’s condition was critical.

However, after sometime, Asif called again and told him that his neice had passed away. The victim’s uncle pointed out that he and other relatives immediately reached Sania’s house where they saw her body lying on a charpoy.

He added that on close examination, he saw that his niece’s body bore torture marks. Shafique accused the woman’s in-laws of murdering her.

Meanwhile, Model Town police have registered a case against her husband, mother-in-law and others on the complaint of her uncle. Further investigations are under way.
