QUETTA: Minister for Information and Higher Education Mir Zahoor Buledi on Sunday said the provincial government is taking serious measures to resolve the missing persons issue in consultation with all stakeholders and according to the ambit of the law.
Talking to a group of journalists at Karachi Press Club (KPC), he said Prime Minister Imran Khan has also assured the Balochistan government of his help to resolve the issue of missing persons.
“Balochistan has a number of issues,” Buledi said, adding that the government is making earnest efforts to solve the problems and has prioritised good governance and combating rampant corruption in its policy.
Buledi criticised previous governments for their “flawed policies” in addressing the issues faced by the people.
The minister said the provincial government had decided to allot land to foreign investors in the province on lease instead of granting them the ownership rights.
He also said that a decision had been taken to set up a bank of the province, named Balochistan Bank, which would create around 1,500 jobs for the youth besides generating revenue of Rs1.5 billion.
He added that the provincial government wanted to increase its share the National Finance Commission Award because Balochistan has been badly affected because of lawlessness and drought.
Buledi said he had visited the media houses to ensure due coverage and respect of Balochistan in the mainstream media.
“Balochsitan has been totally out of media coverage. Only militancy and violence in the province has been covered,” the minister said. “We want the media to come to Balochistan and highlight the public issues.”
