Victim’s father claims his son-in-law is responsible for the murder

LAHORE: A man killed his 20-year-old wife over a family dispute at their house in Hanjarwal late on Friday night.

Police said that Aisha and Zeeshan tied the knot of their free will a few months ago. Late Friday night, her husband allegedly killed her. On receiving information, police reached the spot and shifted the body to a morgue after gathering evidence from the crime scene. Police said the woman was pregnant.

The victim's father told the police that the couple often had arguments. "Zeeshan has killed my daughter over a domestic dispute," he claimed. A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim's father. Police are looking into the case.

In a separate incident, the body of a 70-year-old man was found from Nistar Colony in Lahore late on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Pervez, police said, adding that the cause of his death was yet to be determined. A case has been registered.

In Lahore, a man died while three suffered injuries when their car fell into a body of water on Friday night. According to rescue officials, four people were travelling in the car. However, the driver lost control and the car plunged into the water due to speeding. The deceased was identified as Ali Awais, 22, while Muhammad Adeel, Shan and Asif were injured.

In Bahawalpur, during an ongoing crackdown against criminals, police arrested 19 suspects, including drug peddlers, bootleggers and gamblers. Teams from Saddar Ahmadpur East, Hasilpur City and Saddar Yazman police stations arrested four Category A criminals who were identified as Jahanzeb, Abdul Waheed, Muhammad Azeem, and Muhammad Naeem. Meanwhile, several police teams also apprehended 15 Category B criminals. In a crackdown against bootleggers, Baghdadul Jadeed and Qayampur police stations arrested six individuals and confiscated 161 litres of locally brewed liquor and brewing equipment. During a crackdown against drug dealers, police arrested Baqir Shah and seized 1.2 kilogrammes of hashish. Further, Civil Lines police station arrested two people involved in ticket gambling. Saddar Yazman and Khairpur Tamewali police also arrested Muhammad Abbas and Allah Yar and recovered illegal weapons from them. Police have registered cases against the accused.
