“The Pakistan-Kashmiri Diaspora community is effectively leveraging their strengths to create critical awareness of the grave human rights violations taking place in IOK”, the AJK president said during a meeting with Adeel Aasi, President Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark who called on the President here at Jammu and Kashmir House.
Adeel informed the President of various activities of their organisation including the dissemination of literature on Kashmir in the Danish language, holding Kashmir conferences and seminars, interactions with lawmakers/legislators and local people on the human rights violations taking place at the hands of the forces in IOK.
He added that 27th October was marked as Black Day, Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark organised a major seminar at the Copenhagen Town Hall, which was attended by a large number of Danish opinion makers including journalists, writers, members of leading think tanks, bloggers and the Diaspora community.
He also informed the President that on 5th February Kashmir Solidarity Day, they will distribute copies of the United Nations Human Rights Report on Kashmir translated into Danish in public areas all over Denmark.
They will hold seminars and conferences at town halls and local municipalities, and also publicise the Kashmir issue by utilising advertisement spaces on taxis and public buses.
The main slogans being promoted via these advertisements will be, “Stop human rights violation in IOK” and “Give Kashmiris their right to self-determination”.
AJK on path to achieve self-sufficiency: AJK president
Recalling his 2017 visit to Copenhagen, President AJK praised Tahreek-e-Kashmir for the well-organised visit which comprised of a successful and well attended Kashmir Conference at the Danish Parliament, detailed interactions with Members of Parliament and heads of human rights organisations.
He said that the Pakistan Embassy in Denmark along with Tahreek-e-Kashmir and the Diaspora community is effectively reaching out to intellectuals, legislators and the local community to mobilise opinion and awareness on human rights violations in IOK.
He added that the organization is also actively engaging the local media to help raise awareness of the Kashmir issue.
Commending the efforts of Tahreek-e-Kashmir Denmark, the President said that the organisation is dynamically working in creating awareness on various aspects of the Kashmir issue by raising the issue and all the while is in close contact with its members all over Europe and the United States.
Terming the Diaspora community as an important asset, the President said that their efforts in creating awareness on the Kashmir issue and their outreach have played a positive role in raising the voice of the Kashmiris at the international level.
