QUETTA: Chief Minister Jam Kamal on Sunday said that the provincial cabinet has approved a Rs3,700 million project of Balochistan Awami Endowment Fund under which the poor people would be supported through cash transfers.
In a tweet, the chief minister said that the consent was given during the last provincial cabinet meeting.
He said that in the initial stage Rs3,700 million has been allocated under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). Moreover, the Public Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved the PC-I of the project, he added.
Kamal said, “As you know, recently the cabinet approved the Balochistan Awami Endowment Fund. Under this the poor will be supported through cash transfers.”
He added, “Currently Rs3,700 million has been allocated for this fund under PSDP… the PC-I has been prepared and got approved by the PDWP.”

In the first phase, needy patients suffering from seven major chronic diseases will be supported in treatment in the best public and private sector hospital throughout the country, he said.
Kamal also said that in the next phase plans would be introduced to alleviate poverty.
The social welfare department has been tasked with supervising a merit-based mechanism for funds disbursement, the chief minister said.
The cabinet in the meeting on January 10 also allowed recruitment of teachers from grade 9 to 15 on a contract basis. The CM had approved amendments related to new hiring in the educational department.
The cabinet was informed that the test and interviews for new recruitments would be done through testing services, while district recruitment committees would be formed to hire teachers at the local level.
The education department was directed to implement the suggestions for hiring, while the cabinet agreed to follow the tests criteria for other recruitments as well.
Moreover, members of a sub-committee of the cabinet, Mir Zahoor Buledi, Asad Baloch and Ziaullah Langove, submitted the report of their Khuzdar visit, expressing satisfaction over construction work of the Shaheed Sikandar Zehri University.
They recommended immediate release of funds for the university. The sub-committee also recommended a sub-campus of Sardar Bahadur Khan (SBK) Women University in Panjgur.
The cabinet asked the educational department to implement the proposal.
In addition, CM Kamal announced more sub-committees of the provincial cabinet.
“The sub-committees will be responsible to visit various districts of Balochistan and submit their reports to the cabinet regarding development projects and public issues,” said Kamal.
He termed the decision helpful in resolving public issues at their doorsteps.
The establishment of more offices of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in remote areas was also approved.
After detailed discussion, the cabinet unanimously approved the Balochistan Education Foundation Act 1994 and Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Bill 2018.
