Heavy vehicle drivers warned

During the crackdown, 295 high-powered searchlights were removed from various vehicles

QUETTA: The transport authority on Friday warned heavy vehicle drivers of road permits cancellation if they are found violating traffic rules.

The caution was given by Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary and RTA superintendent during an operation carried out against search lights, overloading additional seats installed in heavy vehicles on Quetta-Karachi National Highway at Mian Ghundi check post.

The crackdown was in collaboration with Levies and police after special directives of provincial secretary of Transport and Commissioner of Quetta. During the operation, five coaches, eight trucks, 10 vans, 30 wagons were fined on account of over loading, additional seats, and vehicle fitness.

In addition 295 high-powered search lights were removed from various vehicles.

The superintendent said that if the drivers did not remove additional seats in their wagons, then their road permits might be annulled.

He said that action was taken after complaints from passengers and increasing incidents of accidents on National Highways.
