China to establish cybersecurity research centre

Cybersecurity centre will be set up at NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

With the world moving towards advanced cyber weapons in a world of fifth generation warfare, a Pakistani and a Chinese varsity have joined hands to set up a modern cybersecurity research centre (CSRC).

In the partnership between the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and the Beihang University (BUAA) of China (one of the top 16 universities of China), the cybersecurity centre will be set up at the NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS).

Turkey to provide cybersecurity

To formalize the partnership, BUAA Dean of the School of Cyber Science and Technology Professor Liu Jian-wei visited NUST on Friday.

Jian-wei stated that the partnership will go a long way in enhancing research in cybersecurity, adding that cybersecurity was a crucial domain, not only for Pakistan but also for the world at large.

Apart from setting up the cybersecurity centre, the partnership between NUST and BUAA will also see a mutual exchange of faculty and students, a joint symposia, conferences, workshops and summer schools.
