LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan in order to indefinitely extend his rule was trying to make Pakistan a fascist state, former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal alleged on Sunday.

“Imran Khan has failed to realise that even Gen Ayub, Zia or Musharraf could not prolong their rule in the country for an indefinite period,” he said while talking to reporters in Narowal.

“He cannot silence the country with his fascist regime,” he said and added, “He will have to correct his course and adopt democratic norms.”

Ahsan said people would not accept this. Criticising the government’s financial policies, he said they gave the PTI government an economy which was ready to take off but due to its incompetence the economy instead has crashed.

Riaz ahmad | 5 years ago | Reply Ahsan advises Imran to be pragmatic, his pragmatism means going soft on their corruption and accountability. On second thought, except for PTI middle class supporters, rest of the people in Pakistan consider corruption and nepotism as normal as drinking a glass of water. No one can blame them, it is integeral part of culture and mindset from centuries. In this culture and mindset, honesty and truth are trivial optional extras which a tiny minority of misfits practice.
