ISLAMABAD: The federal government has placed an embargo on the import of over 470 second-hand electronic products, parts and accessories. However, the import of used computers and related accessories has been permitted. A formal notification has already been issued in this regard and has come into effect from December 24, 2018. The government has imposed customs duty between 3% and 20% on the import of products placed in the restricted list. As per the notification released by the Ministry of Commerce, an amendment has been made in the import policy 2016 upon which a new serial has been included in the Annexure C by amending the SRO. All used machinery and products with the PCT codes included in the new serial will be banned from imports, including novice frequency telegraphy, base stations, microphones, VCR, laser video disc players, CDs, DVDs and single loudspeakers among other items.
