Road accidents claim 10 lives in Punjab
943 suffer injuries across the province
LAHORE:
At least 10 people died while 943 suffered injuries in road accidents across the province during the last 24 hours. The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) responded to 808 road traffic crashes in all 36 districts of Punjab. Out of the injured, 583 were in serious condition and shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 360 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams. Around 386 drivers, 12 underage drivers, 166 pedestrians and 401 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic accidents. The statistics showed that 224 accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 235 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 66 in Faisalabad with 78 victims and Multan at third with 60 accidents and 65 victims. According to the data, 589 motorbikes, 130 auto rickshaws, 86 motorcars, 53 vans, 19 passenger buses, 34 trucks and 100 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in traffic accidents.
