The committee was also informed by the director-general of Civil Defence that fire-alarm systems installed at Parliament Lodges are also non-functional whereas water hydrants installed to extinguish fires have been non-functional due to unavailability of a water connection.
The CDA chairman added that of the allocated fund of approximately Rs2.2 billion, only Rs48 million have been released.

In September, the top civic authority in the federal capital started regulating the mushroom growth of unregulated construction in private housing societies of the city for the first time.
The development authority started regulating building constructions by reviewing and approving building plans in the 54 approved private housing societies in the city.
