KARACHI: A seminar titled “Saving Lives: Legislative Changes for Giving Way to Ambulances” was held on December 31, 2018 at JPMC. It was an awareness session jointly organised by the JPMC, SZABIST and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The event highlighted the recent amendments made to the Provincial Motor Vehicles Act that makes it mandatory for all to give way to ambulances, and those who fail to do so will be liable to pay a fine. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Minister for Works and Services Department who also holds the transport portfolio, said, “This step will translate into safer roads for the injured, the sick and those in distress only if the law is respected and properly implemented.”
