Born in 1942 in Eesak Chauntra Village of Karrak, Dr Khattak had authored a number of books including Khushaal au Jamaliaat, Dur Danaay, Da Rung o Bu, Qafila Khushaah Khan Khattak and The Spirit of Islam.
He had also translated Chinese short stories. According to Islamia College University Pashto Department Chairman Dr Abaseen Yousufzai, late Dr Khattak was not only a great scholar but also a loving teacher. Khattak was counted among disciples of Dr Parishaan Khattak.
Dr Khattak was an eminent scholar and author of Pashto besides being a literary critic. “In his death a golden chapter of Pashto literature has closed,” Progressive Writers of Pakistan president said.
