Seven sentenced to 27-year imprisonment

The accused were charged with possession of illegal weapons, attempt to murder and more

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded 27-year-imprisonment sentence to seven persons, including a woman, arrested during a police encounter. The accused were charged with possession of illegal weapons, attempt to murder, interference in state matters and causing loss to a government mobile van. The hearing of the case took place at the anti-terrorism complex in Karachi Central jail

The court further ordered the accused, Akhter Ali alias Qadri, Shehnaz alias Muskan, Khadim Hussain, Abid Abbas alias Jatt, Rehmatullah alias Dutta, Ghulam Fareed and Abid Ali alias Munna, to pay fines of Rs250,000 each.

The cases against the accused are registered at the Gulberg Police Station.

Fined and imprisoned

Another anti-terrorism court (ATC) awarded 17-year-imprisonment sentence to Sameer, after finding him guilty of attempted murder and possession of illegal weapons. The court also awarded five-year-imprisonment to an absconder, Yousuf Pathan, under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The court also ordered Sameer to pay a fine of Rs150,000. In case of non-payment, the court ordered a further six months imprisonment.

According to police, the accused were arrested in a police encounter. The case was registered at Sharae Faisal Police Station in 2016.
