Zardari calls for setting up more adult literacy centres

ISLAMABAD: Development anywhere in the world was not possible without the participation of women, stated President Asif Ali Zardari.

Zardari was addressing a gathering during the certificate distribution ceremony for the completion of First Literacy course under the National Commission for Human Development, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Friday.

The President distributed certificates among women, and stressed upon the need to conduct more courses so that women could benefit from it.

He urged the government to start the post literacy courses and skill centers particularly for women in the country.

He said that women in Pakistan faced great obstacles in their fight for their rights and their story has been one of hurdles and successes.

He said that women empowerment and emancipation can be done only through education and democracy, and that education alone will help create conditions where women are empowered.
