International conference: Speakers stress need to end human rights atrocities in IOK International conference

MUZAFFARABAD: There is a dire need for the international community and human rights organisations to work to end atrocities carried out by New Delhi in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

This was the crux of an international conference held the United Kingdom, where the participants called for the European Union as well as other international organisations to use their offices for stopping the rising human rights violations and use of pellet guns on innocent children and women.

The conference titled “Case of Freedom for Kashmir” was organised by Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK).

Members of European and UK Parliament expressed their deep concern over the human rights violations in the occupied valley.

Moreover, they reiterated their support to carry out a plebiscite in IOK, so the people of Kashmir can exercise their right of self determination.

The participants condemned the unrelenting incidents of harassment of political leaders and activists, terming it an infringement of UN conventions and international protocols on peaceful political activities and struggle.

The speakers appealed to the UN, EU, and all other global human rights organisations to use their offices to persuade India to stop arresting the political workers and their sympathisers in the IOK.
