Government building colony for Christian community in Landi Kotal

C&W minister reviews construction site; gets briefing at Michini check post

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is constructing a housing colony for the Christian community in Landi Kotal with complete facilities of Church, community hall, school and playground.

After completion of this 21 type-four quarters, the residential issues of the people of minority community in Landi Kotal would be fulfilled, said K-P Minister for Communication and Works (C&W) Akbar Ayub Khan on Thursday during his visit to Khyber tribal district.

The minister also took part in the Christmas celebrations with minority community in Landi Kotal.

During the visit, Akbar Ayub went to the famous Michini Post, the last one on Torkham border overlooking Afghanistan, and met with the Levies Force officials performing security duties in harsh weather.

Khan was briefed by Levies Force officers about the history of the paramilitary force and its recent services in the war against terrorism.

The minister appreciated the achievements of Levies men in establishing peace in the area.

He also visited the under construction roads of Shagai and College Chowk to Sheikh Mall Khel and directed for in time completion of both the roads. He said that the issue of the release of funds for the merged district of Khyber will be taken with ACS on priority basis so that construction work may not suffer anymore.

The minister also approved College Chowk construction scheme and ordered that local stones may be used in construction and a specific design should be made to reflect the civilisation and culture of Khyber district. The minister also visited the under construction tourist resort in Stupa.

He ordered the Executive Engineer (XEN) C&W to ensure the tested material utilisation in construction and to provide play area and seating points to the tourists and the scheme may be completed within stipulated time.

The minister added that tourist spots would be made in all newly merged districts.
