LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the authorities concerned to complete the remaining portion of Ring Road around Lahore and offer this project on BOT (build-operate-transfer) basis to the foreign companies.

He said all the development projects should be completed with transparency and all the rules and regulations must be observes in this regard. The minister said like Lahore, ring roads would be planned soon in other big cities of Punjab as these projects would help reduce the burden on city roads.

He also took notice of the complaints regarding cleanliness work on ring road and passed on directions to take immediate steps to redress them. He took notice of the delay in repair work of Multan Road and asked to take quick steps for the completion of this work.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the construction of Ring Road was delayed only because of the fact that this project was launched by the past government of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and the Nawaz league had a grudge with it. He assured that the PTI government would complete all welfare projects.

Aleem also criticised the past government on awarding contracts of billions of rupees to bogus companies established just for kickbacks. “Behind every company, there were “Sharifs” themselves and heavy amounts were looted in the name of mega projects,” he remarked. He said the so-called khadam-e-aalaa made 52 new companies which were a big burden on the national exchequer and it created financial constraints for the PTI government.

The senior minister also asked the Local Bodies secretary and the Lahore commissioner to take immediate steps and remove all kind of hurdles to start work on Ring Road and other development projects.
