ISLAMABAD:

As the heat of June takes a toll on the citizens of Islamabad, summer getaways and vacation plans are in order. While locals go to cooler and better locations around the globe, expats decide to return to their motherland to spend the summer experiencing the scorching heat and homemade delectable treats.

Archia Aziz, an Economics student settled in Amsterdam brings home the latest high street fashion collection from Europe. In a one-day exhibition at the newest multi-label hotspot, Modeville, the future entrepreneur tested Islamabad’s market for what trends work here and what don’t.

“Over the years I have been pleasantly surprised that people in Islamabad are very up to date with the European fashion trends,” said Aziz, “I see girls wearing the latest styles and accessories however, I would like to see it more and that’s why Couture Closet came into existence.”

Featuring high street stores such as H&M and Atmosphere, Aziz brought in pieces from their spring/summer collections in both clothing and footwear. From summery sandals to animal print studded high heels, the exhibit had a bit of everything.

With a flavour of the edgy evening wear shoes, the collection has a diverse spectrum of styles and colours at very affordable prices. The concept of Couture Closet is definitely not a new one, Islamabad has seen same concept in the form of Berry Berry who exclusively exhibit at L’atelier. Bringing in foreign merchandise and selling them to the local markets is a highly lucrative side-business to have as it generates a market for those clients who are unable to travel on a regular basis and yet want to stay up to date with the current trends.

It is not hard for Islamabad’s fashion lovers to whip up something fun and different; however exhibitions such as Berry Berry and Couture Closet definitely make it easier to put together new looks.
