Somali Pirates Update: Egypt allows transfer of ransom

Burney said that the release of the four Pakistani hostages, along with 18 others, is expected shortly afterwards.

KARACHI: Egyptian government has granted permission to transfer the ransom to the pirates. Activist Ansar Burney, who is in Cairo, said that the special permission was required for legal purposes. He added that the special aircraft is ready, and as soon the few remaining issues are resolved, the plane will leave with the ransom money. Burney said that the release of the four Pakistani hostages, along with 18 others, is expected shortly afterwards. The governor of Sindh, Ishratul Ebad Khan, has been apprised of all developments, he added. He also thanked the personnel of the Pakistani embassy in Egypt for their cooperation.
