QUETTA: The medical superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta has ordered an inquiry into the ongoing centralised cooling and heating system project as the contractor is in the wind after receiving Rs100 million payment.

According to sources, a local contractor backed by previous administration of the hospital harmed the national exchequer of Rs100 million by leaving the project of installing centralised cooling and heating system at province’s biggest government hospital.

Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Dr. Saleem Abro has constituted an inquiry team comprising Dr Shumael Mandokhail, Dr Javed Habib and members of the Planning and Development Department to determine who others were involved in the act.

The committee has been directed to submit its findings within one week.

The provincial health department had purchased the expensive plant for maintaining the temperature in the hospital but since the last four years, it has been rusting.
