LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday faced another setback when its Deputy Mayor Lahore Chaudhry Waseem Qadir announced that he was parting ways with the party.

In a statement, Qadir said a worker had no respect in the party. He blamed Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Hamza Shehbaz for his decision. He said he had taken the decision in reaction to Hamza’s attitude. Qadri said that he could not bear disrespect.
Hamza does not treat the workers and staff well and he also slapped a party worker, Mian Jamil, said Qadri.

The deputy mayor said more such unpleasant incidents had taken place and this could be confirmed by asking party workers. He also said the PML-N leadership was nervous since it came into opposition.
Qadir said he might join another party in the near future.

In another development, a delegation of political leaders from south Punjab joined Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q). They met PML-Q Information Secretary Kamil Ali Agha and expressed their confidence in the leadership of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

The delegation included All Pakistan Muslim League’s (APML) regional senior vice president Raja Kaleemullah Khan, media coordinator Habib Ahmed Ansari, vice president Farooq Jan and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) provincial joint secretary Javed Iqbal.

Agha said on the occasion that the government had come into power with the majority of votes and it enjoyed full confidence of the people.

The opposition should prepare for the next elections as the government is going to complete its term, he added.

The PML-Q leader accused Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari of misguiding people through his claims about early elections.

Meanwhile, Agha also met office bearers of the lawyers’ wing of the party and activists from Layyah district.
