The winter season always witnesses countless people falling sick as immune systems seem to weaken, making people more vulnerable to cold, the flu and other infections. However, while many blame the weather as being the main culprit, there are various other factors that play a part in leading to sickness. Compiled from the Reader’s Digest, here are six tips from people who never get sick.

1. Make napping a habit

Lack of sleep can result in numerous issues, such as increased stress and a compromised immune system. Therefore, try and make a habit of taking a nap every day. Sarnoff Mednick, professor emeritus of psychology at the University of Southern California shared that he took an afternoon nap for most of his adult life and never suffered from colds or flu.

2. Drink a lot of herbal tea

The act of drinking herbal teas can prove to be miraculous, so to speak. It will stimulate hair follicles in the nose, making it easier for you to move germs when you breathe.

3. Don’t forget the protein

Those who eat less protein have been found to have weaker immune systems. Try to include foods that are rich in protein during every meal so you don’t fall susceptible to that cold that seems to be plaguing everyone else in the office.

4. Keeps your hands to yourself

In public spaces, be mindful of what you’re touching and keep a hand sanitizer with you at all times. Things like stair banisters and door handles have been touched by hundreds of people before you, meaning they hold countless harmful germs.

5. Take your vitamins

It’s important to take your vitamins on a regular basis. While most of you may already be taking Vitamin C tablets, one supplement that you might be forgetting is brewer’s yeast. It’s full of B vitamins, protein and trace minerals, all vital for good health and not getting sick.

6. Take cold showers
