RAWALPINDI: A special committee of the district administration has approved the commercialization of seven plots in the city while the city’s development authority has given citizens a month’s time to owners of those buildings which were built without having their layout plans approved to regularise their structures.

These decisions were taken during separate meetings on Wednesday.

In the first meeting, a special committee chaired by Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Jodat Ayaz approved seven cases for commercialisation of plots in the garrison city. The meeting also deferred a decision on a further five cases.

Of the cases approved included the Haveli Marquee within the jurisdiction of the district council. Another case approved was the construction of Kazmi LPG station.

The construction of a petrol pump in Chak Beli Khan, Bhata Road near Wah, Taxila, was approved. The commercialisation of plots in Gujjar Khan and Kotli Sattian was also approved.

Ayaz said they welcome increased commercial trading across the district. He hoped that the cases approved would help enhance trading in the district apart from facilitating the people.

He assured that only those cases will be approved which fulfil the set rules and regulations while checks and balances will be maintained afterwards.

RDA deadline for regularisation

For those who built commercial and residential buildings in the city without having their layout plans approved from the authority, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has given the owners of such buildings 30 days to submit their layout plans for regularisation.

Those who miss the deadline will have to face strict action.

This was warned in a circular issued by the RDA Chairman Arif Ali Abbasi on Wednesday.

“Citizens are requested to have the layout plans of their houses, shops and plots cleared from the relevant departments within 30 days. After which, any building with unapproved layout plans will face strict, indiscriminate legal action,” the circular read.
